What is Probe-It!

Probe-It! is a browser suited to graphically rendering Proof Markup Language (PML) based provenance associated with results derived from i ference engines and workflows. Probe-It! consists of three primary views to accommodate the different kinds of provenance information: results, justifications, and provenance, which refer to final and intermediate data, descriptions of the generation process (i.e., execution traces) and information about the sources respectively.

Developers: Nicholas Del Rio (ndel2@miners.utep.edu), Hugo Porras (hdporras@miners.utep.edu), Paulo Pinheiro (paulo@utep.edu).

Probe-It! does not actually generate content (i.e. logging or capturing provenance information). Users are required to provide Probe-It! with the URI of existing provenance resources to be viewed; these provenance resources must be encoded in the Proof Markup Language (PML) in order to be browsed through Probe-It!
